Venns
Move your record here without losing it
Everything you already have (chats, texts, emails, another app's history, a spreadsheet) comes in as drafts you check, then becomes part of one sealed record. The other parent does not need to move or install anything.
Every imported entry is labelled with its source, the import date and the original file's hash. Imported entries are never presented as verified by Venns.
Another co-parenting app's message history
Export the message history from that app as PDF or plain text, then upload it under Import messages.
What comes across
- Every date-stamped entry as a draft: sender, date and time, the text
- Read or viewed lines are kept as notes on the entry, not as text
What is kept as evidence
- The original file with its SHA-256 hash
- Each entry labelled as imported from another app, with the position in the file
Limits
- Attachments inside that app are not in its text export; add them as evidence to the entry later
- A PDF that stores text as images cannot be read; export it as text instead
WhatsApp chats
In the chat, choose Export chat. Upload the .txt, or the .zip when you exported with media.
What comes across
- Each message with its time, including multi-line messages
- Photos and PDFs from the .zip, with location data removed
What is kept as evidence
- The export file and its hash
- Markers where the export left media out
Limits
- Audio and video are listed, not stored
- You name which participant is you so sent and received are labelled
Text messages (SMS and MMS)
Android: an SMS backup app writes an .xml file. Any phone: a CSV with date, from, to and text columns.
What comes across
- Sent and received from the backup's own record
- MMS text with a list of the media that was attached
What is kept as evidence
- The backup file and its hash
- The phone number and the date as the backup wrote them
Limits
- Media inside MMS is listed, not stored
Save one message as .eml, or export a mailbox as .mbox. Forwarded copies are read back to the original message.
What comes across
- From, To, Date, Subject and Message-ID exactly as sent
- The plain-text body; HTML-only mail is converted to text
What is kept as evidence
- The original headers
- One copy per Message-ID, however many times it appears
Limits
- Attachments are listed, not stored
Screenshots
Upload the image. You type what it shows; the picture stays attached.
What comes across
- One draft per image with the sender, date, time and words you type
What is kept as evidence
- The image with location data removed and its hash
- A label saying the text was typed by you from a screenshot
Limits
- Venns does not read the words from the image
Spreadsheets and the Custody Logs template
Upload the .xlsx or a CSV. Sheets and columns are matched by their headers.
What comes across
- Expenses with dates, amounts, who paid and status
- Phone calls, incidents, exchanges, wellbeing, school and medical, court and legal, documents
What is kept as evidence
- The workbook and its hash
- Flags for template sample rows, missing dates, missing receipts
Limits
- Receipts referenced in the sheet are not fetched; attach them to the expense afterwards
In order
- Sign in and set up your family (state, children, the other parent's email or phone).
- Upload your spreadsheet or the other app's export; review the drafts; confirm.
- Upload chats, texts and emails the same way. Duplicates are recognised, so overlapping exports are safe.
- Keep the old app running as long as you like. Export from it again later and upload the new file: entries you already have are skipped.

Keep every date and receipt in one record
The app works these dates out from your own order, reminds you before each one, and keeps a tamper-evident record of what you sent.
