Move from ParentLink
How to bring your ParentLink history across, what comes with it, and what does not. Facts about ParentLink are as of September 26, 2026.
What the other app offers
ParentLink's features page says you can export a PDF log of your record at any time.
Steps
- In ParentLink, export the PDF log.
- Here, open Import messages and upload that PDF.
- Check the drafts and confirm them.
What the importer reads today
- A PDF with selectable text, or a plain text file, laid out as date-stamped entries (date, time, sender, message).
- Each entry becomes a draft you confirm; nothing joins your record until you do.
- Read or viewed lines are kept as notes on the entry, not as message text.
- The original file is kept with its SHA-256 fingerprint, and every entry is labelled as imported, with its source.
What it does not do yet
- Attachments inside the other app are not part of its text export; add them to the entry afterwards.
- A PDF that stores pages as images cannot be read.
- Expense logs in another app's PDF are not turned into expenses. Import expenses from a spreadsheet or CSV instead.
- Nothing is fetched from the other app directly; you upload the file you exported.
The other parent can stay put
You do not need the other parent to switch. Each reimbursement request is a link they open in their browser, with no account.
Keep the old app running as long as you like. Export again later and upload the new file: entries you already have are skipped.
Messages relayed by email and text to a parent without an account are being connected and are not live yet.
